Kapok is a tree that grows in Indonesia. The seed pod fibers from the tree are also called Kapok, a moisture-resistant, quick-drying, resilient, and buoyant fiber that is much lighter and airier than cotton. It is so light and lustrous that it's often referred to as "silk cotton".
Kapok is laborious to harvest but is done so by sustainable means, which in our opinion makes Kapok and the Layla Pillow the better, more earth friendly choice.
